Learn boxing properly. From clueless to confident
Whether you are brand new, have trained for years or are preparing for a fight, your training should be built around where you are and where you want to go. I am Charles Whitewood and I coach technical boxing alongside physical and mental performance.
About
Good boxing is about making decisions, adapting and understanding what is happening in front of you. That is what I want to teach. Rather than just telling or shouting at you what to do, I will help you understand why you are doing it, so you can eventually recognise and solve problems for yourself.
Ways to train

No two people box exactly the same way, so I do not train everyone the same way either. The training is built for you and changes as you do.

See what is insideTechnique matters
These are the things I enjoy working on most. I will break them down in a way that makes sense to you, then give you the opportunity to actually use them.
The aim is not to make you look good doing a drill. It is to make the skill work when you actually need it.
The background
Fifteen years of boxing and five years studying how the body actually works sit behind the coaching, but the results belong to the people doing the work.
Client results
15+ years of boxing experience goes into the coaching, but the results belong to the people doing the work. Clients have improved their technique, fitness, strength, punching power, mobility and confidence.
Case study · nine weeks
Rachel went from a one minute plank and limited boxing experience to holding a plank for over two and a half minutes and performing combinations containing eighteen movements.
What I am most proud of is how consistently she kept showing up and pushing herself, regardless of what was happening outside the gym.
Coached by Charles
Plank hold, tracked session by session
I have also helped people prepare for their first fights, improve their competitive records, and make changes that extend well beyond the boxing gym.
Consistent improvements made in weeks
Rachel’s plank: 1:00 → 2:15 in nine weeks
The Bulletproof Performance Academy
For boxers who have realised there is so much more you could be doing to improve. The Academy is an online community built for boxers who already understand the basics and want to go further.
Consistently improve your boxing or your money back.
Join the communityOne boxing skill taken apart at a time, so you can see the timing and the small details that decide whether the shot works.
A plan to work through session by session, built around what your boxing actually needs, and I tell you what every drill is for.
Physical work built around what boxing asks of you, aimed at your punching, your footwork and holding up in the later rounds.
Pressure changes how you box. Guidance on holding your composure in sparring so you keep making decisions, not just reacting.
Why the body breaks down under hard training, what the early warning signs are, and how to ease off before you lose time.
Sessions run live, where I take you through drills and technique and correct what you are doing as you go, not after the fact.
Ask me about your own boxing directly. Whatever has stopped making sense in your training, bring the question and I answer it.
Boxing moves too fast to judge from inside it. We watch your sparring back and I point out the habits you cannot feel at the time.
How it works
Message or call and tell me roughly where you are: complete beginner, returning, or already competing.
We work out what you actually want from the training and which type of session fits you best.
We start with the fundamentals that matter for you, and I see how you move rather than assume.
As your technique, fitness and confidence change, the sessions change with you.
Meet the coach
I started boxing because my dad made me.
I hated it for the first year. Then I became obsessed with it.
More than 15 years later, I have competed as an elite amateur boxer across England, France and Sweden, faced boxers from seven different countries and trained alongside and competed against national, international, European and professional champions.
I have also spent over five years studying physical education, personal training, strength and conditioning, and human movement.
But the part of boxing I care about and enjoy most is still the same. Helping someone understand something they could not understand before. Seeing it click. Then seeing them do it without me.
Common questions
Anything not covered here, just ask. A quick message is usually the fastest way to get a straight answer.
No. You do not need to be an experienced boxer to start. You just need to be willing to learn. Whether you are brand new, have trained for years, or are preparing for a fight, the sessions start from where you actually are.
Not at all. Boxing can be an incredibly rewarding hobby without ever stepping into a competitive bout. You can train to get fitter, learn a genuinely difficult skill, challenge yourself after work or simply become more capable in your own body. If you do want to compete, the training becomes much more specific. Either way, I will take your goal seriously.
Coaching is available across South East London, including Kidbrooke, Eltham, Greenwich, Blackheath, Lee, Welling, Woolwich and Charlton. If you are just outside these areas, get in touch and we will see what can be arranged.
Small group training is for family and friends and is capped at six people. Keeping numbers down means the coaching stays personal and everyone still gets corrected properly.
Access to technical breakdowns, training programmes, strength and conditioning sessions, sport psychology guidance, recovery, injury prevention, live coaching, live Q&As, video analysis and the other areas of boxing that often do not get taught. Charles is personally involved.
The Academy is built on a simple promise: consistently improve your boxing or your money back. Get in touch if you would like the specifics before joining.
